Carnival Magic
I was on the Pre-Inaugural cruise back in November.
We enjoyed ourselves very much. Then I took a group out of the Christmas Holidays. Everybody Enjoyed themself on this Cruise - just see below.
• Embarkation was Great. The Port of Galveston expanded the terminals for this bigger ship and to prepare for Disney and Princess to come in. It is a very nice Terminal.
• Many people commented on how nice it was not to have a smoky casino.
• Ken, the Irish singing Maitre’d was VERY cordial and took special care of my group. He was great. He even went down to the kitchen where one of my passengers was in the kitchen at the Chef’s table. He went down there to say hello and called her by name. She felt so special. During dinner, Ken even sang a song and dedicated it to “Rose’s Gang”.
• The Prime Steakhouse, food and service was great and worth every penny.
• The Cucina Del Capitano was also great. We tried it for both lunch and dinner. The menu at dinner had a lot to offer and the staff was fun, entertaining, provided fabulous service, and the food was great.
• The outdoor BBQ on sea days were fun and seems to be very popular.
• Sam, the Hotel Director from England was fabulous. He was very friendly as I bumped into him around the ship. Sam even tried to take Elf. He was even there to help expedite my group off the ship as well. Sam is a great guy.
• The Ocean Plaza on deck 5 was a hit. There were always people there either playing trivia, or Karaoke. The band who also played there at night were fantastic.
• The continental breakfast, and sandwiches in the Ocean Plaza area along with the salad bar in the Sushi area for lunch was well received. I heard many good comments from folks on board.
• The movie screen by the pool was great. The sound was great and even the clarity of the screen on a sunny day was very good.
• The shows in the showroom - Illusionist was VERY, VERY good, and “Groove Time”, the show we saw on the Inaugural got another standing ovation.
• I received many good comments on the Serenity deck. People liked the adult bar in the Serenity area as well, this way they didn’t have to walk all the way to the pool bar to get a drink.
• Red Frog Pub was a hit. Everybody loved the Thirsty Frog Beer and the grub.eston. We were in there Every day for something.
Eric (one of the Bartenders) was Great. Very Nice, and was making flowers for the ladies out of napkins.
- We were out over the Christmas Holiday's so even in the middlie of the Caribbean it Snowed. (if you look closely at the Photo, the white dots are Snow)
- Several of us vistied Worked Works a couple of times. Even the Adults Loved it.
- Cherry On Top is one of the Cutest Candies Shops (that I have seen on a Cruise Ship)
- Everyone that was on this Sailing with me had a Great time. We are already looking to Booking our Next Group Cruise.
If you would like to see more Photo's from the Carnival Magic I will be Posting them on my Pick a Place FaceBook Fan Page: http://www.facebook.com/pickaplacetravel
I loved the Magic. It was the best cruise and the service was great. People who work on were friendly and willing to help me with anything I needed. The Magic left on Sunday and Monday morning I cut my foot and had to see the Doctor. The nurse was really nice and made sure I understood what I couldnt do for a couple of days and what I need to do to care of my foot. Everyday we were on the ship I got a call asking how my foot was and if there was anything they could do for me. I enjoyed the shows at night and getting to know the different people who worked on the ship. I would go back on a cruise on te Magich anyday.
ReplyDeleteThough I haven't been on many cruises, this one is by far the best ship I've been on yet! I was on the Carnival Ecstasy a few years ago, and Magic is massive and beautiful. Though we were on the ship for seven days, I still had trouble finding my way around.
ReplyDeleteThe cabin/stateroom was much larger than I expected and I loved the balcony that we had. We ate in the Southern Lights Dining room all but two of the nights. The Maitre'd, Ken Byrne, was excellent and has a wonderful voice. Our team waiter, Savi, was excellent and very knowledgable about wines. The bar waiters in the dining room knew our "usual" drinks if we had any.
My wife really likes chocolate martinis and our waiter brought her a different type of chocolate martini every night. There were bars all over the ship. We never actually stopped at the piano bar, but I really wanted to.
However, the Red Frog Pub, which I miss dearly, was the best. Eric and Dinish were so polite and fun loving. What I loved most about this cruise was how personable everyone was. They were instantly friends you've known for years.
We went to the shows almost every night, which I really didn't enjoy, but then again, I didn't like them on the Ecstasy either. But, my wife and our friends really liked the shows, so apparently I'm just wierd.
I liked the arcade and I wanted to go to the casino but I never did. There was more I wanted to do on the ship, but just didn't get the time to do it. Plus, I was tired too. I wanted to go to the seaside theater and to the comedy show, but we were always so tired we just went to the room. The bathroom of the room was excellent and the room itself was spacious.
The bed was oh so comfortable too. When I was on the Ecstasy I woke up sore several times a night, but I slept so good every night. Our room steward was excellent, though I can't pronounce or spell his name. When my luggage hadn't shown up to the room, he went and found it for me.
We only ate lunch at the buffet a few times and the selection of food changed every day, as well as did the deserts. The breakfast buffet was vast, but we ate breakfast in the main dining room most of the time. The cuisine was excellent as always and the quality of the food was great too.
As usual there were too many items on the menu to sample, you couldn't get them all. We ate at the Prime Steakhouse and Cucina del Capitano (an italian restaurant). Both were worth every penny. I love italian food and I love my steaks too. When you go on the cruise, go to both! Don't take this cruise and not eat at both restaurants! I would have eaten at both of them every night if I could have.
Serenity spa was a peaceful place to lay in the sun and read a book or take a nice nap. We went in December and the weather was cool. I went on Waterworks once and the water was wayy to cold, but it was also because of the time of year I think.
